For Get It Now Listings:
You must commit to purchase an item, and then the listing will be ended immediately. Afterwards, the seller will send you an invoice detailing payment method. myGEAR is not involved in the transaction.
For Make An Offer Listings:
If you submit an offer, the seller will accept or reject your offer. If the seller accepts your offer, the listing will be pulled from the website. Then you can expect an invoice from the seller detailing payment method.
For standard auctions:
You must place bids on items that you would like to win. Your bids will auto increment up to your maximum bid.
(i.e. : No one has bid on an Item. The starting price is $4.95. You place a max bid of $60; you are currently winning the item at $4.95. If another user were to place a max bid of $5 on the item, your bid would auto increment to $5.20 to outbid that user.
You can go to the my account page to view items that you have bid on.
MyGear sets a standard bid amount for 2 primary reasons. The first is to encourage bidding on items. Auctions are effective because bidders feel involved and enjoy the anticipation of winning an item. The second reason is to discourage petty listings which clutter auction sites.
